For example, the pilot of this aircraft had to land his American P-47 Thunderbolt fighter plane in a pretty strange location...a makeshift airfield in the deep countryside. Quickly conducting some necessary repairs just after the invasion of Normandy, the crew is ready to take to the skies again. This was taken in August 1944...
