This Shelter Is Doing Zoom Meetings For Prospective Adopters and Pets

Richmond Animal Care and Control starting a new adoption procedure that will surely brighten your day. Since most stay at home orders are still in place, now is a great time to adopt a pet. However, RACC, like most other shelters, isn't allowing many in-person visits to just stop by and browse the animals. So their alternative is a hilariously adorable video conference call that lets potential adopters shop all their pets at once.

“We know that things are hard, and scary and seem out of control. We also know that pets always seem to know when we need a little pick me up and can provide unconditional love and levity to our daily lives,” RACC said on Facebook. Starting now, you can meet a pet through a Zoom or Microsoft meeting and ask a shelter worker basic questions about their medical history, behavior, habits, favorite things, and personality traits.

If you're looking into adopting or just need something fun for your kids to do for an hour, emailing RACC is a great resource to learn more about prospective pets. While most shelters are going virtual until further notice, that doesn't mean Internet calls with animals wont be just as effective at getting to know your pet as an in person visit would be.
