Lorde

Lorde's pseudonym is certainly the shorter version of her real name: Ella Marija Lani Yelich-O'Connor. "I basically chose Lorde because I wanted a name that was really strong and had this grandeur to it. I didn't feel that my birth name was anything special. I always liked the idea of having, like, a one-named alias," she's explained.

Mandy Moore

Mandy Moore has gone by her alliterative stage name for years. Born Amanda Leigh Moore, she says it never really felt right. "It was just synonymous with my parents being mad at me," she said of her given name.
