With lockdown forcing real-life sports on hiatus, esports are beginning to take over the league once again. Outside of fantasy football, other games are starting to capitalize on the fact that people are online more than ever and desperate for entertainment.
“While the peak culmination of esports and cryptonetworks waits for improvements in emerging technology and 5G connectivity, blockchain-based fantasy sports are poised for consumer adoption," researcher Mason Nystrom explains. Fantasy sports are picking up speed due to COVID-19, and maybe even the convenience of them will outlast real sports.
Fantasy sports are expected to grow by 7.2% within the next three to five years, and 75% of traditional sports betters also partake in fantasy sports. That's a huge market boost, and the incentive to stay home keeps people interested and safe.
