Netflix Drops Haunting Trailer for 'Rebecca'

More scary movies and tv shows are being announced as we slowly make our way into October. Rebecca is adapted from the gothic novel of the same name by Daphne du Maurier. Prior to this adaption, Alfred Hitchock reenvisioned the book with his own twists.  The psych thriller is now being retold through a 2020 lens.

Rebecca, played by Lily James, falls in love with a mysterious widower Maxim de Winter, Armie Hammer. They get married and she moves into his eerie mansion, the Manderley. Things take a turn for the worst as Lily pries into Max's previous marriage. Apparently, his deceased wife is still around... Not just by her belongings that remain in the home, but in spirit.

The trailer opens in a romantic lens. Max and Lily are hopelessly in love and are enjoying their time traveling the coast and hanging out with their friends. The mood visibly changes when they enter the Manderly.

The colors of the film went from warm and vibrant to cold and desolate in just one frame. This was surely a sign of grim events arriving.

Rebecca is directed by Ben Wheatley (Kill List, A Field in England) and stars Armie Hammer, Lily James, and Kristen Scott Thomas as a creepy housekeeper, Mrs. Danvers, Rebecca will be on Netflix on October 21.
