Before Ricky Gervais became an actor, he was the frontman of a pop group while he was in college at UCLA. He continued down the music broadcasting road and did radio podcasts until he was 40 years old, then he took another path. He landed his role in The Office (UK), where he struck it big and has never had to worry about employment since.
