COVID-19 Testing for WAP Video cost $100,000

While some artists have been relying on animated videos during the spread of the coronavirus, Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion have taken another route. Rather than lip-syncing in isolation, or calling on their fans, Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion spent $100,000 on COVID-19 testing for their crew in order to create the "WAP" video.

In an interview with i-D, Cardi said, "It was kind of weird shooting the video in the age of corona." She went on to explain how everyone on set had to get tested for COVID-19, totaling $100,000.

According to the hip-hop star, the scenes involving the tiger and the leopard were shot separately. The snake scene, however, was another story.

"I was naked, and one of them peed all over me," Cardi said.

Media is feeling the financial impact of the virus more than ever. Universal Pictures allegedly spent $9 million in order to start shooting Jurassic World: Dominion. Everyone on the set will be tested three times per week.

"Everything has completely changed because of the pandemic," Cardi said. "You know, I was constantly on the road, now I'm mostly at home with my baby. Everything that I had planned for this year has to be rescheduled for God knows when. So it's just crazy, it's a lot."
